Milford Sound

It’s not really a sound, they were stupid when they named it. It’s a fiord. Anyway it was a 13 hour full day trip from Queenstown. There views on the way are spectacular. I don’t think there is anywhere in this country you can go and get an ugly view of something. Lots of ice capped mountains and rainforest on the way to Milford. No Des Lynam :(. The boat trip was amazing. The captain said it was the nicest, calmest day at sea he had had in a long time. Milford sound is absolutely stunning. In my opinion it is more spectucular view wise than Doubtful sound (although the sheer size of Doubtful and the lack of tours on it make them very different and impossible to compare). There are two very large waterfalls on Milford, one of which the boat sails so close you can feel the spray on your face. Getting touched by the spray is suppsoed to take 10 years off you so you won’t recognise me when I am back. We saw seals and a pod of Dolphins swam at the waves at the front of the boat for a while. We sailed out of Milford into the Tasman sea. It was so calm I would have loved to have stayed on the boat for longer. We had the long bus trip back and then went for a fergburger(the best burger in the world)
